Welcome to Scrapping Away

There’s no better way to spend a weekend

than relaxing with friends,

unwinding, and best of all, scrapping your way.

 • Grab the girls and join us for a class, the day, the night or the weekend.

 • No hubbies, no kids, no jobs, no worries.

 • Eat, drink and scrap your heart out.

 • Scrapbooking not your thing? No worries . . . you can do a variety of crafts here, there's plenty of space.

 • We have the package to suit you, from fully catered to self contained.

 • We also have classes available and can work with you to provide the perfect retreat experience.

The house accommodates 8 people comfortably, no bunk beds here. We have attended to every detail to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible.

You may rent the retreat for the weekend or during the week. If you don’t have enough people in your group but still would like to have a retreat you can attend a hosted retreat. These are run about every 6 weeks meaning there is sure to be a date to suit you.

Our comfortable studio includes large tables, comfy chairs. In addition to the standard scrapbooking tools, you will have access to a Sizzix and Sizzlit machine with a wide selection of alphabet dies and a Cricut cutting machine with an excellent selection of cartridges. The studio tables are suitable for quilting and if using machines there are plenty of powerpoints available.

Our fabulous Retreat House is located in Albury, NSW. A short trip from either Melbourne, Canberra or Sydney and easily reached by car, train or plane from most locations on the east coast.

I love the Kaisercraft Sugar Sugar range. For my daughter's birthday I made a Kaisercraft Cupcake Album and I am so thrilled with how it turned out. I used my Cricut with SCAL to cut the titles and I also made these cute birthday svg files for paper piecing. If you are interested in obtaining any of these files check out http://scrappingaway.blogspot.com/

I have been making a few design elements for scrapbook layouts lately. I started with ric rac thinking it would be easy but it really wasn't. I am thrilled with how it turned out though. I had to create a grid over my design in Inkscape in order to have each 'wave' the same height and length. I am sure there is a way to adjust the grid already present on Inkscape but I don't know how, if you do please let me know. I have used the ric rac on a layout that I will be teaching next week.

Wedding card PDF Print E-mail

I was asked by a friend to make a couple of wedding cards. I didn't want to simply duplicate the last card I made, I prefer to make each card an original. I decided to use the Wild Card Cartridge and I am really happy with how this turned out. I cut it at 5.25inches and I inked the edges using a stipling brush and a chalk inkpad. The flowers are 3 layered paper flowers from Lu Lus Scrapbooking and the bling is Heidi Swapp. I love the look of the flowers but didn't want to go over board and so I only added the four, it was very tempting to just keep adding them. Now to work on the second card.

I managed to get a bit of creating done today. With tomorrow being Feb 14 it would be easy to claim this as a Valentine's card but we don't really do Valentine's Day and it really is just coincidence that I have been playing around with a heart. I plan to have this as one of my make and take projects at February and March Scrapping Away events.

The hearts were all cut using the Cricut and SCAL The paper is My Mind's Eye Wild Asparagus "darling" polka dot/brown
